What kind of rubber do you have?

If you are looking for some tips on how to make tires black again, then you must start by examining the rubber. The normal color of rubber is usually milky white yet sometimes, the black colored rubber see was caused by soot from the engine.

Soot was also supposed to increase the strength of the tire and its suspension, which were added to reduce heat and improve its stability over time. But the original purpose of the rubber is to keep heat away from the body of the car tire. This is why some get burnt when they touch the rubber on their cars.

Aside from this, some parts of the car tire that is always in contact with skin are also prone to cause tire blooming. Seats, labels, seatbelts and windshield wipers are just few of these parts. In fact, these parts of the car tire are the ones that cause the most damage to the rubber because it is constantly in contact with skin. These parts cause the blisters and even sometimes, cause serious damages to the rubber.

In fact, it is said that more than half of all cars have to be repaired after accidents due to brake fade or other tire problems.

Checking tires

The next step on how to make tires black again is to check for damage caused by these in the first step. You can do this by going through your car’s original spare parts. Check for the following signs of damage. If you see any dent in the tires, it means that your treads are already fading. If you see any blemishes, it means that you need to replace your treads immediately.

But before buying replacement for your old ones, you have to think of a good idea on how to make tires black again. You can try to remove the old rubber mats that cover your rims. Remove them until you can clean the whole area of the rubber. Use detergent to clean the rubber mats. Rinse it well. This cleaning will make it easier for you to find the old rubber parts that are causing the damage to the rubber.

Thorough cleaning comes first!

Rinse the area of the area that has the spot where the damage had been made as well. If you are planning on keeping tires black for long durations, you have to be very careful when it comes to cleaning the rims. Do not wipe it with water. It would only cause the damage to multiply and spread. Wipe it with a towel or a paper towel only.

Finishing

When you have finished with the removal of the damaged rubber parts, the next thing that you have to do is to wipe off the remaining water-based dressing. This is important because water-based tire dressing will help keep the rubber parts from cracking. For this purpose, you can use a spray bottle.

Spray some small amount of water-based dressing on the area until it has dried up completely. Now that you are done with the removal of water-based dressing, you can proceed to use rubber cement to fill in the cracks on the tires.

Now that your rims are already filled with rubber cement, the next thing that you need to do is to apply a layer of wax. The purpose of this is to make the rim more durable and more shiny. Wax also acts as a protective layer so that the spots caused by water will not show through. However, it is important to note that using wax on tires with metal rims will not provide you with a glossy finish. The best thing that you can do is to use an oil-based wax.
