BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 – Best all-terrain tire for Ford F150

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2This ford tire is ideal for all types of terrain and will not wear out quickly. It has a sturdy sidewall rubber which also features bruise and split resistant sidewall rubber, all of which accounts for its core technology. Derived from BFGoodrich’s race, it has proven to be a Baja T/AKR2 tire. It also has extended rubber thickness which extends up to the sidewall in order to offer protection to more of the weak sidewall zone.

There is also the fact that it can detect protruding objects on its path by the use of computerized technology, these objects are then prevented from splitting and snagging the tire’s sidewall. It is optimally blended in order to reduce chips and tear of the tire and instead give it a superior endurance on gravel roads. With its tire footprint shape, which is of an advanced nature, stress is more evenly distributed, thereby leading to delayed wear and tear and even when this occurs, it is uniformly distributed.

Furthermore, it can bring about increased block stability which leads to more even wear; it also will not retain stones but rather provide an additional tread cleanout guard against such things like stone grilling. What’s more, with its sidewall traction bars, you can drive it on off-road terrains even if it’s muddy, snowy or rock-filled terrain. Also, its serrated shoulder block gives the tire the ability to maneuver through soft soil or deep snow. Read more about BFGoogrich on wiki.

Buyer’s Guide

Now that we have reviewed the best tires for Ford F150, there is also the need to put some things in order and consider some factors before purchase because if you don’t, you may end up purchasing a product you don’t like and may come to regret your decision.

Below are the factors to take into consideration before making a buying decision:

Size

Before purchasing the F150 tire, it’s essential to consider the size of the tire. No matter the tire’s impressive features and technology used in its manufacture, it is not advisable to purchase a tire that does not suit your truck with respect to its size.

Terrain

Yes, there are indeed many fantastic tires out there. However, it should be noted that certain tires are specifically designed for specific terrains. Hence, it is of paramount importance that you consider the kind of terrain your vehicle will be riding on before purchasing the tire. It will interest you to know that no matter the level of advanced technology used to manufacture a tire, it will still wear out (and fast too) if it’s placed in the wrong terrain.

It is advised that you study the terrains properly and read on the various types of tires to know which will fit the kind of terrain you will be traveling through. For instance, if you go through a muddy ground more often, then you can purchase a tire well suited for it. On the other hand, if you travel through all types of terrains, you can still decide to go for an all-terrain tire.

Driving Style

You should be aware of your driving style as this would help you decide on the type of tire to purchase.

If you tend to drive rough, then you will need an aggressive and rigid tire to help accommodate your nature.

Also, if you are fond of carrying lots of loads on your truck, then you should purchase a tire that can bear the weight of the load. In all, ensure you are buying a tire that is well suited to your style.

Treadwear

While purchasing a tire, go for the one that will last very long. These tires are rarely cheap, so replacing them every once in a while won’t do. It’s only reasonable that your tires will wear out faster if you use them on a rough terrain often; hence, there is a need to go for tires that have been designed to function through certain conditions such as snow and so on. Do not be attracted by the beauty of the tire but instead choose one that can handle any type of situation anywhere.

FAQs on Best Tires for Ford F150

  1. What is the duration of the Ford F150 tire?

There is no specific duration for Ford F150 tires as they will only last for as long as you want them to. If you use the tires according to their specification and how they are meant to be used, then they will not only serve you well but in top quality, too.

Some tires last for as long as ten years while some others last for less than that, also note that the type of terrain you plight daily also determine how long your tires will last. Even if you use the right tires, but it’s on the wrong terrain, your tires will wear out faster. Ultimately, a lot of factors determine how long your tires will last.

  1. Is the size of the tire relevant?

If you wish to get the best out of your tire, then yes the size of the tire does matter.

Never reduce the size of your tire even if it’s by one inch neither should you increase it for any reason whatsoever.

Buying a tire that is the right size will enable you to get the best out of it, so it’s best to purchase exactly what your rim needs, no more, no less.

If while trying to buy a tire, you do not immediately see the one that suits your vehicle, rather than get just anything, it’s best to wait until you find the right size.

  1. Can the tires be used for other types of automobiles apart from the Ford F150?

Most tires in this article are indeed ideal for Ford F150, yet they can still be used for other brands of trucks and SUVs. If you are not so sure on the type of vehicles these tires are suitable for, you can check the tires and see the automobiles they are ideal for on the net, or you contact an expert who will give you detailed info on the other types of automobiles they can be used for.

  1. Is it compulsory that the tire be terrain specific?

It’s not necessary that you go for a tire that is ideal for a particular terrain as this can be stressful and a little unrealistic since most people plight different routes in different conditions. The best thing to do would be to go for a tire that is labeled “all-terrain”. This type of tire will function well in any condition and terrain.

If you do not see an all-terrain tire to purchase, then you may be left with no other choice than to buy a specific terrain tire if you are to get the best result from your tire. Tires that are tagged to be terrain specific have been designed to withstand specific conditions, and so this factor cannot be ignored.

How to Purchase the Best All-Terrain Tire

Having noticed that a wide variety of customers would rather go for an all-terrain tire than a specific tire, it becomes necessary that we look at the factors that will help you make the best choice as regards the best all-terrain tire. By following these five criteria, you will most likely make the best choice:

Type of Material it’s produced with

While some all-terrain tires are made of rubber treated with silica, some others are made of carbon treated rubber.

Manufacturers usually treat their tires with either of these two materials to give it a firm gripping power most especially on wet surfaces; it also aids in the prevention of stones, debris or mud from getting lodged in the treads of the tire.

So, if you must purchase an all-terrain tire, then its best to go for the ones that are pre-treated with silica or carbon compounds.

Size of tread

If you are making a lot of off-road trips, then the size of the tread will play an essential role in the type of tire to purchase.

Ideally, an all-terrain-tire always comes with a fat looking tread pattern. If you pay close attention, you will discover that they have a deeper groove as compared to on-road tires which are used for coal tar roads. These tires are specifically designed to increase the tire’s surface area since it will create more contact between the tire and the surface.

As a result of this, there will be more traction force, which is an essential factor when you are driving off-road.

The Tire’s Ability to Self-Clean

In modern times and with modern inventions, many all-terrain roads are built in such a way that any mud or dirt that gets into the tire’s tread will eventually find its way out as the tire rolls on the ground.

This feature gives it both high traction as well as minimum hose-work, which is needed to maintain this feature at all times. So, if you are going to be purchasing an all-terrain tire, ensure you go for the one with the ability to automatically clean up by itself.

Rate of Rigidity on Tough Terrain

This is an important feature when it comes to purchasing the best all-terrain F150 tire. Most manufacturers in a bid to improve the rigidity of their tires usually insert steel bands inside the tires, and then these bands are wrapped in nylons to ensure they last longer.

So, while purchasing an all-terrain tire, look out for the one which has an internal steel band as it will be more rigid.

Ability to Resist Stone Penetration

As silly as this may sound, it’s also another essential feature to watch out for when purchasing an all-terrain tire for Ford F150. If you will be driving on smooth roads, then its not a problem as there are rare stones to be found there. However, if you are frequenting off-road terrains then it’s essential to go for tires with the ability to prevent stone penetration.

If stones are allowed to enter the tires, they can cause severe damage to the tires and affect its performance. So, it’s best to go for a tire with stone ejector mechanism.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you love solid vehicles enough to purchase a Ford F150, then you should also like it enough to buy new shoes for it. From the products reviewed in this article, choosing the Best Tires for Ford F150 should be nothing but a piece of cake.

Don’t just purchase anything that catches your fancy but pay particular attention to details and fortunately all that has been discussed in the buyer’s guide section as well as FAQs. Go ahead and make your perfect choice!

I bought Firestone Destination A/T for 03 jeep liberty. I live by the Canadian border in Minnesota. These tires are great in the winter. They work well in deep snow, wet snow, light snow and everything in-between. They are pretty quiet.

The best. I live in northern N Dakota, these Goodyear tires are great for year round traction. Great on snow, ice, mud, highway. I cut the sidewalk on one while off roading, but it was my fault.

I have Goodyear ones on two Jeeps, one JKU and one TJ and neither one slides anymore. My TJ would slide on the smallest patch of ice but not anymore. And I haven’t even studded them yet!

I bought falken. We have had them on a few trails and they performed great, didn’t throw a lot of rocks or dirt(compared to my Toyo M/T’s on my F-150).
